I discovered Posca markers in the summer of 2023, and began using them on brown card stock. The shapes and compositions that came naturally with this medium fascinated me and had a mid-century modern feel to them. I experimented with these same designs in watercolor, and large-scale oil paintings.

While experimenting, I listened to documentaries about the M23 rebels in eastern DRC, and thought better than naming this series after them. But, the conflict does come to mind when I think of this series.
