Candacee was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She studied English literature at Oklahoma State University. Upon graduation, she moved abroad to explore. Candacee has lived in many different countries. A long teaching career took her from South Korea to Myanmar to Hungary to Azerbaijan to Belgium over the course of 15 years. She returned to the U.S. in 2021, eager to focus on her art practice.
She uses oil sticks, oil paints, acrylics, paint pens, colored pencils, gel pens, watercolors and gouache. She explores printmaking, clay and digital media. She works on canvas, paper and board, and has an insatiable curiosity about materials and how they can change visual experience.
