Teeth

Sansevierias had appeared in a 2019 and 2020 painting, abstract but representing itself, clear, unabashed, very spiky. I fell in love with the shape of the blades, spikes, and points in a crown, and they have appeared everywhere in my work since. Upside down, looking like ghosts, jellyfish, clouds, robots, and right-side up, but modified to look like hands, heads with points, pomegranates, plants, sea anemones, sea cucumbers, stars. The versatility of the form lends itself to a multitude of uses, modifications and variations.

'Teeth' became my title for many of these paintings, as a reference for the organic yet alien shapes that I experimented with in this series.
